Discover the Past
From homes to community spaces, marginalized groups created environments that sustained culture, resisted oppression, and shaped American society.

Project
American Homes & Spaces Through the Ages serves as an exploration of disenfranchised and marginalized groups throughout U.S. history. From the 18th to 20th centuries, it showcases the physical and social spaces they shared.
This site highlights how women, African Americans, Native Americans, Chinese Americans, and Mexican Americans transformed their environments while establishing cultural and identity throughout the past 300 years.
